Art directors think in pictures. They speak through visuals the same way writers speak through words. Yes, they know graphic design, but that is just the starting point. Art directors generate ideas with copywriters, choose type and color with intention, design layouts that stop people mid-scroll, shape logos and brand identities, plan photography, select locations and wardrobe, and ultimately define the visual voice of an entire campaign. They do not just make things look good. They make ideas impossible to ignore.

The Curriculum

Your training covers everything you need to build a brilliant career in Art Direction.

Our courses are strictly practical. Your instructors are top-tier working professionals—art directors, creative directors, videographers, and producers—who teach you the exact skills they use at their agencies every single day.

You will graduate not just with a diploma, but with a world-class, agency-ready portfolio that proves you can think strategically and execute flawlessly across any medium. 

By the end of this program, you’ll have the conceptual depth to lead global brands, the technical mastery of the industry’s most advanced tools, and a professional network that spans the world’s most elite creative hubs. You won’t be looking for a foot in the door, you’ll be ready to walk in and lead the conversation.

Your journey begins with the four pillars of the modern Art Director. You’ll obsess over Ideas First to ensure your work has a pulse, then dive into Video Storytelling to master the art of the narrative. Simultaneously, you’ll get hands-on with Digital Imaging and the industry-standard Tools needed to execute at the speed of culture.

Talke your raw ideas and giving them professional polish and purpose. Through Digital Photography and Vector Imaging, you’ll master high-end asset creation, ensuring your visuals are crisp and scalable. You won’t just be making things look good—Thinking Strategically and Idea Presentation will teach you to sell your vision to even the toughest clients.

This is where your craft meets the real world and moves beyond the screen. You’ll master the architecture of communication through Type Journey and learn to turn any space into a canvas with Everything is Media. As you add life to your designs in Motion Graphics, you’ll also begin Quarter Away Portfolio Prep to secure internships at top agencies worldwide.

The final phase of your first year is about high-speed impact and digital intuition. You’ll master the art of brevity with Short & Sweet, learning to tell a brand’s story in seconds. By bridging the gap between aesthetics and usability in User Experience and Visual Impact, you’ll ensure work is functional, while Interactive Concepting turns passive viewers into active participants.

You’ll learn to speak the language of the modern consumer across every platform. You’ll master the personality of letterforms in The Voice of Type while building cohesive, multi-channel narratives in Digital Campaigns. By dominating Social Media and mastering rapid-fire Content Creation, you’ll ensure your brands don’t just join the conversation—they start it.

This quarter is about moving beyond traditional ads to influence the zeitgeist. You’ll explore the mechanics of play in Gaming Concepts and learn to weave brands into the news cycle with Pop Culture Engineering. After exploring physical innovation in Product Creation, you’ll turn the lens on yourself with The Brand Called You to define your unique creative identity.

The focus now shifts to high-speed output and career-ready precision. You’ll sharpen your editing and storytelling rhythm in Short Cutz while testing your conceptual speed in Head to Head competitions. Through intensive Portfolio Development and the strategic Get a Job course, you’ll curate your best work and prep the interview skills needed to land at a world-class agency.

Submit your creative exercises​

Show us who you are as a creative thinker. Do three of our fun creative exercises, OR share examples of things you’ve created.. and do two creative exercises. Finally, schedule an admissions interview with your Admissions Advisor if you haven’t yet connected.

Tuition Costs

Tuition in Miami is $4,996.50 and $4,850.00 in New York, due quarterly. It takes eight quarters (two years) to complete the art direction program. Total tuition cost for the program is $39,972 in Miami and $38,000 in New York. Learn More →
