Here’s all the information you need to get going.

1. Start the FAFSA Process

Visit the official FAFSA website. You will need to provide 2024 tax information to complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA.

Our federal school code is 031256.

When asked about your college or career school plans, select first-year undergraduate (freshman), as our Portfolio Programs are classified as undergraduate programs for federal financial aid purposes. If you have already earned a bachelor’s degree, you can indicate that in the following question on the form.

2. Visit the US Federal Student Aid Website

To receive federal student loans, you will need to complete two additional forms on studentaid.gov: Undergraduate Entrance Counseling and Undergraduate Master Promissory Note. Both forms are found under the Loans and Grants dropdown menu.

3. Complete Your Promissory Note Signature​
Visit the US Federal Student Loans website and sign your promissory note. You’ll find it under the section titled, “Complete a Mastery Promissory Note.”
4. Let the Financial Aid Office Know You Have Applied
Once you have completed the application and the 2 additional forms (which are needed if you plan on using federal student loans), reach out to the Financial Aid Office: financialaid@miamiadschool.com to learn about the next steps.

That's it! Once you've completed the FAFSA and the financial aid office (FAO) has verified your information, you will receive a text confirmation. This will include a Funding Estimate for you to review and sign.

Note: be sure to enter the 5-digit code when you e-sign the estimate or it will not process.

Financial Aid FAQ

Federal student aid, including grants and loans, can help cover educational expenses for eligible U.S. citizens and legal residents; however, it typically covers only a portion of tuition costs. After financial aid is applied, many students use our interest-free payment plan to cover their remaining tuition balance. Eligibility for federal aid is determined by the U.S. Department of Education based on the information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which should be completed at least 30 days before your start date, though earlier submission is strongly encouraged.

I’m financially independent, my parents do not support me. Why is the FAFSA asking me for my parents’ information?

FAFSA dependency status is determined by federal criteria, not whether your parents provide financial support, so many financially independent students may still be required to report parent information unless they meet one of the federal independent student qualifications: https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/filling-out/dependency

The Department of Education considers a student to be “dependent” based on the student’s age. The questions that determine whether you are a dependent or independent on your FAFSA are questions 48 through 60, if you can answer yes to any of these questions, and provide the necessary documentation, then you are considered to be an independent student and you will not be asked for you parents’ information.

Once you have received a bachelor’s degree you no longer qualify for grants.

You will not be charged a late fee. Once you receive the award letter we post the funds on your student account; you are only responsible for any remaining balances.

Yes, qualifying students can receive financial aid for their entire time at Miami Ad School. Traditional financial aid covers two semesters at a time which is equivalent to a scholastic year of nine months. Miami Ad School operates on a quarter system, so three quarters is the equivalent of the financial aid award year. This means that during your third quarter you will renew your financial aid for the 4th, 5th and 6th quarters and finally, in your 6th quarter you will renew for your 7th and 8th quarters.

Your funds will be sent to the school. Any tuition balance will be paid and any credit refunds will be handled through our Tuition and Accounts Payable Departments.

U.S. citizens and legal residents are eligible for federal financial aid. There is no federal financial aid available for M-1 or F-1 students.

Any applicant to New York Campus can use the GI Bill (®) to attend MAS. 

Applicants in Miami will be unable to do so.
