From Accounting Clerk to Interactive Designer
How I found my dream career at Miami Ad School
Backstage received UX Mag's 2014 Design for Experience Award. I began this project as a designer and eventually became the Lead Designer on the project before launch.
My career-shift happened years ago at my accounting workplace, after creating a fancy chart for a presentation. My Powerpoint chart caught the attention of my manager, who urged me to pursue graphic design. My course was set under the guidance of Miami Ad School. During my time at in school I discovered the fun and challenge of creative communication - what an amazing learning experience. Advertising and design feeds both my analytical and creative sides.
The career change allowed me to escape the mundane, cubicle-dwelling, number-crunching existence and go to a world filled with colorful and diverse experiences. I went on to create artwork for albums, ads for musicians, websites for artists, blogs for gaming gods, produced events for burlesque stars and even shared my experiences by teaching other eager Miami Ad School students. School was my key to the many exciting worlds I would not have seen otherwise. I could never have imagined I would meet and work for the talent I have had the opportunity to create for.
Now I work with an amazing and very forward thinking tech company, Citrix, crafting interactive designs that adapt to any platform. It’s been, and still is, an exciting ride and a dream for me. My humble thanks to the unique experience and amazing staff from Miami Ad School. I highly recommend the school to the dream chasers.
