Her Internship Led to a Job: An Interview with Mollie Bond
As part of the NoM.AD system at M.AD, Mollie Bond got the chance of a lifetime: moving to New York for a big-time opportunity with a leading agency.
We asked Mollie to tell us all about the experience—to spill the inside scoop on a program so many of our news students are more excited for than anything.
Q. Where did you intern?
Mollie: I did both my internships with Droga5 in NYC. I think I did one more quarter of classes than most people before applying to internships because I wanted to wait to start my No.MAD program until my lease was up in Dallas, and I could move to do an internship in person.
In January, I moved to NYC for my placement with Droga5 and had such a great time working there my first quarter, I opted to intern again with Droga for a second-quarter with my CW partner. Now we're very fortunate to announce we're moving full-time with Droga5!
Q. How did NoM.AD impact you?
Mollie: NoM.AD was a great opportunity for me to see what it was really like to work in an agency. My partner and I were treated like Juniors from the start and got to help out on a ton of really fun campaigns with many different teams. I learned a lot about how to collaborate with teams of creatives and brainstorm/pitch quickly. I think the best part of No.MAD was getting to meet and work with a ton of really talented creatives.
Q. What kind of projects did you work on?
Mollie: My partner and I got to hop around on a lot of different briefs. We worked on pitches for inclusion projects with Volvo and Adobe, helped out on a (literal) grassroots Superbowl campaign called #FlipTheTurf, and helped out with a bunch of internal projects for clients like Unilever, Kit Kat, Chase, and Meta!
Q. Would you recommend the NoM.AD program to future students?
Mollie: I’ve always wanted to live in New York and NoM.AD gave me the perfect excuse to move to the city. Droga5 is on Wall Street! It feels really surreal to move from Texas to working on Wall Street in the Big Apple! I've loved meeting and hanging out with classmates from Miami Ad that I otherwise would never have gotten to meet in person, and it really feels like there's a Miami Ad School family here!
